The roots have developed nicely, so this is a great day to put this little Lady in her home.

Now all we need is Spring catching up with us.

A happy family

This is probably the last picture of the ganja family, merrily grooving together in the nursery: by the end of this week, two little Ladies will be moving to their new home. The others will follow shortly thereafter and then the outdoor season will officially have started.

Getting ready

Time for some fresh air today. It still ain’t anywhere near as warm and sunny as in the early Spring we had last year, but the little Ladies need to toughen up a bit. After all, it’s only a few weeks now before they’ll be taking up permanent residence in the great outdoors.

Flowers on the frontside of the house, vegetables and ganja in their own beds (still gotta build the rectangular bed on the right): that’s how I’m gonna set up the balcony plantation for this year. This way, the ganja will remain concealed from the street view for months thanks to the flowers and the vegetables won’t be eaten by snails like last year. Apart from that, everybody’s gonna have as much sunlight as possible and above all, it’s gonna  look ever so nice.

Yes, that’s right, one ganja plant this year, the others will grow in the care of some friends.

I also mixed the fresh soil in the 80-liter ganja pot with last year’s ganja soil. Gotta keep myself busy these last few weeks before this year’s season really starts. Patience is not only a virtue but it takes some effort as well, haha.

Every garden needs one. So got me one here as well, now. Check the column to the right of this page.

Patience is a virtue

I was thinking: just like seeds need time to germinate and grow into plants, soil needs time as well. So today, one month before I move the little Ladies outside, I decided to get my humble little balcony plantation ready for the upcoming season. It will undoubtedly rain and the nights can still be pretty cold, but now the soil can breathe and settle in. I consider that a good thing – after all, a major part of organic growing is going with the flow. The big pot holds 80 liters of fresh gardening soil, the other one 40 liters.

If you look closely, you can catch a glimpse of the little Ladies as they patiently await their months of glory.

*update* Mixed 40 liters of last year’s soil in the big pot, after an online friend mentioned that ‘old’ soil can be real good, with all the old roots fertilizing it. That made sense to me.

A neighbourhood friend has been growing the Herb for years, but mainly indoors. This year, she’s gonna grow an outdoor crop and she had these two young Ladies to spare. They’re members of the skunk family, so it looks like it’s gonna be an interesting summer.
